How Girls Join

Any girl 4-17 years of age can join the world largest organization for girls! Girls make new friends; participate in arts and crafts; learn high adventure activities like rock climbing, mountain biking and windsurfing; and learn about the world.

If you live in the greater Washington DC metropolitan area, there is place for you in one of the 4,000 troops of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation's Capital (GSCNC). To find a troop in your area click here or call 202-237-1670/1-800-523-7898. For VA please ask for ext. 222, for MD and DC ext. 221.

If you live elsewhere, check out GSUSA's Council Finder and then contact the closest Girl Scout Council to you for further assistance.

Cost to Participate

Membership Registration
An annual fee of $10 goes directly to Girl Scouts of the USA for activity insurance, research and development of national programs, safety standards and training.

Troop Dues
Dues are set by the troop and are usually collected weekly or monthly.

Activity Fees
Troops may choose an activity that costs more than the funds available from troop dues and cookie sale proceeds. Parents may be asked to help cover the cost of a special trip or activity.

Uniforms
Most girls love uniforms and want every piece! Keep in mind the only item every Girl Scout is required to wear is the Girl Scout Pin. Clothing uniforms are available from the GSCNC Girl Scout shop.
