A.   Visit Cypress Grove and take part in the Nature walks on the elevated boardwalks into 165 acre forest.

¨              When was Cypress Grove built?

¨              Why is it called Cypress Grove?

B.     Find out what flora and fauna live at Cypress Grove.

C.     Find out about the Raptor Center.

¨              What are the animals called?

¨              Why are they called this?

D.    Complete one badge in your Try-it , Junior badge, or Interest project books that are related to things in Cypress Grove.

 

A. Learn the history of the N.C. & St. L. Depot and Railroad Company.

¨              What is the meaning of N.C. & St. L.?

¨              When was the Depot made into a Museum?

¨              How many years did the Train Depot run?

B. Organize and pack a picnic in the Dining Car outside in the back of the Museum. (Call Depot to ask about this service and reserve it.)

C. Find out what trains frequented the Depot.

¨              What towns did the trains go thru?

¨              What is the history of the trains and the railroad outside?

 

A.    Visit the Well.

B.     Find out why it was built and what uses it had.

C.     Find out what kind of well it was and it’s history.

A. Learn about the Native Americans that lived in the Pinson Mounds area.

B.     Learn about the history of Pinson Mounds and when it was set up as a museum.

¨              Attend the Indian Pow Wow Festival on the 3rd weekend in September.

D.    Observe the trees growing at the Forestry Station before turning down to Pinson. What patterns are they growing in?
